BARTICA REGATTA
As many of the activities got underway in Guyana
for the long holiday weekend, beginning with Holy
Thursday and You-Man-Nabi and concluding with
Easter Monday kite flying.

We decided to head to Bartica for the weekend to
enjoy the spoils of the Bartica Regatta including
the Street Jam, Boat Races and the pageant.
However, it is only right that we firstly thank you
to the Regional Chairman, administration and
people of Bartica for being so warm and
hospitable to us.

The street was one of fashion, style and
sexiness with people, especially women of
all ages hitting First Avenue just around midnight
ready to party, if you think Georgetown has the
hottest partying scenes, you needed to be in
Bartica Easter Weekend enjoying the vibes of
Fusion with DJ Seon and lots more.

Sunday morning the warm ups for the annual
Boat races started at 9hrs with the likes of
winner, Neil Rahaman (Miraculous),
Passa Passa, Hot Wuk and loads more,
however, the turn out for this year's Regatta
was not as big as previous years due to the
recent attack a few months ago. Despite that
occurrence, Barticians and visitors came out
ready to support their favourite boating clubs,
groups and captains and set to party as they
were also entertained by Bad Boys
Entertainment and Cool Runnings.

As evening came, the action turned to Kool Breeze
for the Ms. Bartica Regatta Pageant. There were 9
young women vying for the title of Ms. Regatta
2008 and it being the first time in 12 years that the
35 year old pageant has all its contestants hailing
and residing in Bartica. But as much as they tried
to wow the judges with their talents, which ranged
from singing to physical display and dancing,
evening gowns, bathing suits and intelligence
segment where it came down to the final four who
were, Delegate #1 Feanio Richards (23),
Delegate #2 Anandae Pestano (20), Delegate #4,
Ceana Persaud (22) and Delegate #7 Angelique
Desantos (17).
It was their final question which came from
the Judges, including Chief Judge Sonia Noel,
which determined their places at the end of the
evening Anandae Pestano got 3 rd Runner Up,
Angelique Desantos 2 nd , Ceana Persaud as
the first runner up and Feanio Richards.

All in all it was an impressive show of activities
which had almost everyone in Bartica and its
environs involved, congrats to you Bartica,
see you again soon
